Building a world where all people can be happy

Grant to Young Heroes

Swaziland in Africa has the world's highest rate of HIV/AIDS, with over 40% of adults being infected.  This has resulted in Swaziland having nearly 70,000 orphans and over 15,000 child-headed families.  Young Heroes is currently supporting over 850 orphans in 370 families with food, clothing, and education.  The grant of $10,000 in 2008 from the AllPeopleBeHappy foundation initiated the Young Heroes Education Fund, which paid for the secondary school fees, uniforms, and books for 24 older orphan children within the orphan families.  Of the 24 students sponsored, 16 successfully passed and completed the year; six failed, and two dropped out.  This project has now been adopted by Newman's Own Foundation and Thomson-Reuters.      (www.youngheroes.org.sz)

Update - Friday, February 26, 2010

We have initiated an AllPeopleBeHappy Volunteer Service Grant.  Dedicated overseas volunteers not only donate their time, but they have to pay their own expenses and often are expected to contribute to the cost of supplies and services.  We will be offering matching grants to help offset these expenses.  For the Summer 2010 awards, organizations currently receiving AllPeopleBeHappy foundation grants have been invited to submit applicants.
