Open Group Experience in Ecuador: June 14-19, 2027
Overview
Experience Ecuador through Nido de Vida’s community and mission. This experience will have you exploring Ecuador’s natural beauty, will allow you to make new friends, and will take you on a deep dive into the culture of an agricultural town. Through Nido de Vida’s lens, you’ll better understand both the struggles and opportunities that a small farming town faces, and the tension of making a living today while also trying to plan and dream about the future.
The week will be full of hands-on experiences, like making cheese and chocolate. You’ll get dirty helping advance reforestation efforts, and you’ll cool off and have fun in local rivers. This is a great immersive experience for adults and children alike who are interested in being physical (and don’ t mind getting dirty), seeking connection with the natural world, being challenged by questions of sustainability, meeting new people, and practicing their conversational Spanish skills (did you know that Ecuador is one of the best countries to learn Spanish!).
Important Dates
- February 15, 2027: The last day to register. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to complete registration. Early bird special: Register by January 15, 2027 for $100 off the total program fee! This program needs a minimum of 8 participants to run.
- April 16, 2027: Mid-payment – 50% of program fee due
- May 14, 2027: Final payment due
Logistics
Participants should arrive at Quito’s international airport (Mariscal Sucre International airport) by the evening of June 14th. This first night in the country will be spent a few miles from the airport.
On June 15th, program activities will officially begin. The day will start off with a shared group breakfast before checking out of the hotel and starting the journey west to San Miguel de Los Bancos, where Nido de Vida is situated.
The focus of this program is on the agriculture county of San Miguel de Los Bancos which sits about two hours from Quito. Most days will be spent exploring the culture and natural world of the county through Nido de Vida’s mission and community.
All in-country expenses—including food, lodging, transportation, cultural and recreational activities, and service projects—are covered by the program fee.
Accommodations and Meals
The accommodations for this program includes staying in locally owned, small hotels. The first night will be spent in Quito (close to the airport) and all subsequent nights will be spent in a hotel in San Miguel de Los Bancos.
Who is this experience for?
This experience is designed for families with children 8 years old and above who are interested in supporting grassroots environmental work, who enjoy getting dirty in the natural world, and want to engage with local people. This experience will be a mix of doing service work, exploring the natural world, and engaging with community members.

ALLPEOPLEBEHAPPY’S CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICIES
If your trip must be canceled prior to departure, please contact our office as soon as possible. Deposits are nonrefundable. The remainder of your refund will be determined by the date and conditions of your cancellation as follows.
- Individuals who send a written cancellation notification to the AllPeopleBeHappy Office before May 3, 2027 will receive a full refund, minus the nonrefundable deposit.
- Individuals who send a written cancellation notification to the AllPeopleBeHappy Office between May 4 and May 31, 2027 will receive a 50% refund of the mid-payment (exclusive of the nonrefundable deposit).
- Individuals who send written cancellation notification to the AllPeopleBeHappy Office on or after June 1, 2027 will not be guaranteed any refund. AllPeopleBeHappy will work with the community partners on if/how much of a refund may be possible.
If AllPeopleBeHappy cancels a program before the program start date for any reason, we will issue a full refund for the program fee and the deposit.
AllPeopleBeHappy requires a minimum of 6 participants to run this open group program. If the minimum number of participants is not met, AllPeopleBeHappy will notify all participants by February 20th. We advise against purchasing non-refundable airfare before February 20th unless otherwise notified.
