Guatemala

The impact of amputation on a person’s life is wide-ranging, affecting not only their physical mobility but also their physical health, mental health, economic livelihood, educational trajectory, and family and community participation.

Guatemala City, Guatemala

According to a recent report by McDonald et al, each year, approximately 1.5MM people experience an amputation. Many countries around the world, including Guatemala and Ecuador, provide little to no prosthetic care through their public health systems, forcing people with amputation to seek prosthetic care at often inaccessibly expensive, private-sector clinics.

MEET OUR PARTNERS

ROMP Global

The Range of Motion Project (ROMP) is a US-based nonprofit organization with the mission of ensuring access to high-quality prosthetic care for underserved people, improving their mobility and independence. We operate in Guatemala, Ecuador, and the United States. All of our branches share a strategic plan, set of standards, board of directors, and supply chain. In both

Guatemala and Ecuador, we provide prosthetic care through our brick-and-mortar and mobile clinics. In Guatemala we also operate a community-based rehabilitation program that reaches patients throughout the entire country. In the United States we run a nationwide recycling program that supplies our clinics with 95% of the prosthetic components they need.
