Originally from Washington, PA, Katie attended Penn State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. After five years working as an engineer for a major package delivery company, Katie decided to make a career change. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in December 2010 with an MA in International Development and an MA in Business Administration, which included a study abroad experience in Chile.  Immediately following graduation, Katie joined the AllPeopleBeHappy (then Amizade) team as a Development Intern and had the opportunity to lead her first AllPeopleBeHappy experience in Karagwe, Tanzania.  She has worked as Director of Operations, with special focus on financial forecasting and international risk management, since 2012. Katie has a deep love for art and its ability to draw people together in cross-cultural contexts. Outside of AllPeopleBeHappy, Katie is a watercolorist and enjoys hiking and reading stories from around the world!
