AllPeopleBeHappy Supports Flood Recovery in West Virginia and Kentucky
Final Update: November 11th, 2025
When devastating floods struck Mingo County in early 2025, the Williamson Health & Wellness Center stepped in to provide immediate relief. With support from AllPeopleBeHappy, the team mobilized quickly—preparing and delivering hot meals to individuals and families displaced by the flood. Their efforts ensured that those who had lost homes, belongings, and access to necessities received warmth, nourishment, and care during a critical time.
The project reached hundreds of residents, distributing food both directly and through the area’s flood shelter. Volunteers played an essential role, lending their hands to deliver meals, distribute cleaning supplies, and help with clean-up efforts across affected neighborhoods. What began as an emergency response quickly evolved into a lasting community network, connecting families, volunteers, and local partners in collective resilience.

Out of this crisis, something enduring emerged. The relationships built during the flood response laid the groundwork for the launch of a new food bank at Post 49 later in the year. This pantry has since become a cornerstone for addressing food insecurity in the region, helping families find stability while fostering trusting relationships between the community and local healthcare providers.
Williamson Parks and Recreation, the City of Williamson, and Facing Hunger Food Bank were key collaborators in these efforts, strengthening the response and ensuring long-term support systems for residents. Looking ahead, Williamson Health & Wellness Center plans to build on this momentum—expanding programs that promote healthy eating, deepening connections with the recovery community, and exploring new partnerships with AllPeopleBeHappy.

From crisis to collaboration, this project stands as a powerful example of what community-driven action can achieve—turning disaster relief into a foundation for lasting resilience and hope.
February 25th, 2025
In early February, after a long weekend of intense rain, devastating flooding hit West Virginia and Kentucky. The tragic flooding left many people without food, shelter, water, medical care, and cleaning supplies.
With emergency support provided by AllPeopleBeHappy, Williamson Health & Wellness Center will provide direct flood relief by delivering food, medical, and cleaning supplies throughout Mingo County, West Virginia, and Pike County, Kentucky. The assistance will address a gap in resources for households that do not have access to flood aid. Success will be measured by documenting the services provided and resources secured, and by the stories of impact that the team collects.
Flood aid will be provided primarily at the Williamson Field House through the Williamson Parks and Recreation Department and other similar sites throughout the county. Williamson Health & Wellness Center has helped to create a resource guide for flood relief. The county commission and the county redevelopment authority have also partnered to secure resources, especially for roadways and housing/shelter. Additionally, Facing Hunger Foodbank and Southern Community College are supporting food insecurity efforts.
