OffGridBox
Project Name: Clean Water and Clean Power for Bunda District
Project Description: This project will refurbish three OffGridBox systems on islands in Lake Victoria, Tanzania, providing clean water and solar energy to 400 households (1,500 people). The systems, installed five years ago with UNDP, need new batteries, pumps, and parts to get back up and running. Once restored, they’ll pump 1 million liters of clean water annually and power small businesses. Local technicians will be trained to maintain the systems, and a management structure will be set up to ensure long-term success. This project will help improve daily life for the community by providing reliable water and renewable energy, while also creating income opportunities through solar-powered businesses.

Project Name: Empowering Communities Through Climate Action for Improved & Sustainable Livelihoods
Project Description: This project aims to enhance resilience and economic empowerment of rural communities in Karagwe District, Tanzania, by addressing climate change and energy challenges. It focuses on training farmers, women, and children in climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy technologies (specifically tubular biogas systems), and eco-friendly business ideas. It will provide households with biogas systems, which helps to move away from traditional cooking methods that rely on charcoal and firewood. Alongside this, the radio programs and community campaigns will help raise awareness about climate change and promote local action. The goals of this project include increasing crop yields by 30%, improving food security, creating sustainable income opportunities through green businesses, and building local capacity to drive long-term climate resilience.
